Greetings to you and the Japanese people on behalf of Tamils around the world!
Your country has been extremely kind in economic help to the needy around the globe and has been actively involved in trying to bring a peaceful solution to the conflict in Sri Lanka.
We are taking this opportunity to highlight the plights of the helpless Tamils in Sri Lanka and the inhumane manner by which the so called Sri Lankan democracy are treating the Tamil citizens in Sri Lanka.
It is most disheartening to see thousand of our mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters being brutally killed by the occupying
Sri Lankan security forces in the North and the East and enduring long and immense sufferings in the hands of the Sinhalese chauvinism for more than six decades, but particularly during the last three years under the current regime, which is brutal and bloody to the Tamils.
We are witnessing the barbaric slaughter of our race including indiscriminate bombings and torture of innocent civilians even in the so called safe zones. The Human Rights watch documented more than 3,750 extrajudicial killings, over 30,000 Tamils suffering serious bodily injury, over 1.3 million displacements and in January and February alone, over 2,300 Tamil civilians killed, 700 of them being children! Unfortunately, the Sri Lankan Government is still raising money successfully from Iran, Japan and China and buying arms, including cluster bombs. They are dropping bombs indiscriminately and are systematically killing the innocent Tamil civilians, in the name of 'Fighting Terror'. So here we have a sovereign government doing a mass murder of its own citizens!
We the Tamil Diaspora are deeply hurt that your government is not supporting the initiative to have the UN Security Council consider the situation in Sri Lanka at this crucial time when a catastrophic humanitarian crisis is jeopardizing the lives of thousands of innocent civilians. It is imperative that the Security Council take up this matter to respond to the genocide of the Tamil people by the Sri lankan government.
There are 90 million Tamils worldwide, on almost every continent, Tamils being the major consumers of Japanese products, including automobiles and appliances. We despair to see Japan protecting and defending a government that is killing its own people.
We earnestly urge you to pay much attention at your earliest on the Sri Lankan Tamils' plights and expect you to play your part by freezing any loans and aid to the government of Sri Lanka until a ceasefire is declared and they restart the stalled peace process.
